My mom came up to visit us for the weekend!! We had a great time!! Today, Brad & Lauren had a Creative Drama class to go to at the college in the morning, so Ethan, Grammy & I went out shopping & then headed to Bonanza for lunch!!
Here are some pictures of Ethan being a silly little goose while we were waiting for our food to come!!
Today we held a Girl Scout bowling party!! Our Daisies did such a great job selling cookies and we wanted to congratulate them!!
Lauren had a great time and so did Ethan. Bowl, Bowl?? He did not like it when it was not his turn to bowl!! Lauren was the best helper, and she never missed a chance to get his ball & help him out!!
Here is a picture of Ethan's spare in the 2nd frame!! Yay Ethan!!!
Ok Miss Amy... Ever since the day that you sent me the Brownie Girl Scout picture from back in the day, Lauren has been trying to perfect your "Fish Face".
She is finally ready to show it to you... Here she is (crossed eyes & all!!)
So, when Lauren & I arrived home from thinking day, I hear Brad saying "Shhhhhhh..." We quietly walk in the door. He says "I just had him get back in his bed 10 minutes ago."
Today we had our Girl Scout Thinking Day Celebration!! We have been looking forward to this for quite some time now!! We represented Ireland. We learned about Leprechauns, Merrows & Mermaids and fairies which the Irish call Sidhe (pronounced shee).
We served out Irish Soda Bread and everyone loved it!! We dressed in red & blue in the uniforms of the Irish Girl Guides (the girl scouts abroad). We had a great time!!
PS I have no idea why Lauren made that face, she was having a blast...
OK, So I just found these pictures in my phone & about laughed myself into a stupor. These were taken at Grandma Maish's house. I don't even know why, but they are so funny looking!!
Have fun with these.
I might be crazy, but I think Brad looks like Spike Lee in this bottom one...
This is what we made at our house today with our Girl Scout troop for our thinking day celebration coming up!! Enjoy!!
Irish Soda Bread with Raisins
Nonstick vegetable oil spray 2 C all purpose flour 5 Tbsp sugar, divided 1 ½ tsp baking powder 1 tsp salt ½ tsp cinnamon ¾ tsp baking soda 3 Tbsp butter chilled and cut into cubes 1 C buttermilk 1 C raisins
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray an 8-inch diameter cake pan with nonstick spray. Wisk together flour, 4 Tbsp sugar, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and baking soda in a large bowl to blend. Add butter. Using fingertips, rub in until a course meal forms. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add buttermilk. Gradually stir dry ingredients into milk to blend. Mix in raisins.
Transfer in to the prepared pan. Sprinkle dough with remaining Tbsp of sugar.
Bake bread until light brown and tester into center comes out clean, about 35 minutes. Cool bread in pan 10 minutes. Transfer to rack. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Tuesday night we had a Girl Scout field trip to the Fire Station to learn about fire safety! The girls had a great time & we learned a lot too!! Hey girls- What is your #1 job in a fire??
This Too Cute Tuesday picture is of Ethan riding on Daddy's shoulders at Northtown Mall on Saturday. Ethan is clearly pooped out & ready to get out of there!! He was about one lullaby away from falling asleep on Brad's head.
Today, Lauren & I got to go to the bridal shop to try on dresses for Andrea's wedding!! We had such a great time!! I was sooo surprised, but in less than 2 hours time, we were able to pick out Bridesmaids dresses and find & purchase Laurens Flowergirl dress!!
Here are pics of my little hamball, Lauren posing in her new dress.
Today Brad surprised me with a card & the most beautiful tulips!! Lauren was a bit jealous. Grandpa Steve saved the day (and surprised the heck out of her) when he showed up at Grandma Maish's with a beautiful bouquet of flowers just for her!! Here are the kiddo's posing with our flowers!! PS. As you can see, Ethan remembers the trick that he was taught at the Kids Kastle...
I don't even know what to say about these pictures. I just call it Ethan in a box. I don't know what his fascination with this little box was, but he really thought that he should get in it. He spent quite some time trying to figure out how he was going to fit himself into his box.
Today was Laurens 100th day of school!! Can you believe it?? I was able to go in to her school & help with their 100th day Celebration. Ethan even came with me & he was sooooo good!! He sat in his stroller the whole time (like 2 hours) and ate his snack & watched the big kids do their thing!
They had set up 10 stations, each with a fun activity and fruit loops. Yes, fruit loops (and they were safe for Lauren, so she got to do a food activity with her class & she was really excited!). They had to add a group of 10 items (smiley faces, stickers, pennies, fingerprints etc. ) to their 100th day sashes. They also had to count out 10 fruit loops per station, and add them to their 100th day necklace. At the end, they had 100 fruit loops on their necklace, and 100 items on their sashes! Then they got to decorate their 100th day crowns, and voila, their look was complete. Laurens teacher is so good at incorporating lots of learning into everything that they do. We are really lucky to have her in such a great class.
This Too Cute Tuesday is also a congratulations to Lauren!! Lauren passed Guppy's in her first attempt!! She will be now moving on to Minnow's!! She is a really fantastic swimmer and we are sooooo very proud of her!! Yay, Lauren!!!
Today was a special day for our Daisy troop. We held our investiture ceremony. This is where the girls become official Girl Scouts. My Co-leader, Cora made the girls daisy crowns and we held a candlelight ceremony. It was all pretty moving, I think. I had to fight back tears several times!!. So I would like to introduce to you all, the newest members of Girl Scouts, Daisy Troop 961!!
This blog will follow me through my everyday life as a wife & a mom 365 days a year. Maybe I will have a picture to share, maybe I will have a cool tip or maybe I will just have something to get off my chest. Stay tuned...
